Supporting the arts in our communities is crucial, and Dichotomy Co ee and Spirits did just that by bringing me out to their fantastic shop in Waco, TX as their first-ever jazz artist-in-residence. Over the course of the monthlong residency and encore performances, Dichotomy audiences joined me for some original music, exclusive debuts, reimagined jazz standards and solo piano improvisations with the help of a few outstanding guest artists. These are some of the highlights from this residency, recorded live on May 3, 2017.
Special thanks to patrons Steven Carey, Andrew Hudson, Sam Asthana, Barrett Thomas and
all silent donors for their support of the Dichotomy jazz residency, and to Creative Waco for supporting the arts in Central Texas. Big thanks to Jenna Davies and John Burton for joining me onstage. Thanks to Jacob Woolsey and Sarah Keilers at Dichotomy Co ee and Spirits for getting me in the door, and to Marcus Miller, Nate Harasim, Horace Maxile, Ben Johansen, and Alex Parker for taking their valuable time to help with my musical development.
